MarThese are so adorable, but I can’t work out if they’re drawn, made of paper or made in a 3D program…

JanDavid Shrigley: The Art of the Doodle - Slide Show - NYTimes.com
In February, London’s Hayward Gallery will mount a major survey of his work. To stuff the show with new art, he says, he had to trick himself into thinking he wasn’t actually making art at all.
In a spiral notebook, he jotted down 180 ideas for 180 pieces. Most consist of a few purposely cryptic words, intended as jumping- off points. No. 116 is ‘‘sea monster smiling’’; others are equally open-ended: ‘‘sword fight,’’ ‘‘dog on its hind legs,’’ ‘‘William Shakespeare.’’ ‘‘I try not to think too hard about what I’m doing,’’ Shrigley says. ‘‘I’m just crossing things off a list and fi lling a page, and the work gets made as a byproduct of that task.’’
…The overall effect is like discovering the sketchbook of a boy who taught himself to draw while locked in a basement. ‘‘I’m not trying to draw badly,’’ says Shrigley, who graduated from the Glasgow School of Art. ‘‘I’m just trying to draw without any consideration of craft.’’

MarToday I discovered Wookie the Chew: The House at Chew Corner. Look at the cuteness!
Drawn by American artist James Hance, the book combines the creative genius of George Lucas, A.A. Milne and E.H. Sheppard. The book itself is only $5 which is a bargain! Just got to find out how much it costs to ship it to England.
Check out the Mr Hance’s site for more information, and view some more awesome prints. Some of his pop culture mash-ups are amazing. Actually they all are.

SepMr Kidby Part 2.
These are all images from the Discworld series, written by Sir Terry Pratchett. As previously explained, Paul Kidby has illustrated the books since the previous illustrator died. He has drawn the images for the book covers, as well as work for the Art of Discworld and for the Discworld Emporium.
The first image is of Casanunda, the Disc dwarf equivalent of Casanova.
The second is Death. He is awesome.
The third are football cards made after Unseen Academicals was released, I have those cards =)
Fourth was commissioned by SFX magazine, and is of the Great A’Tuin, the turtle on which four elephants stand, holding up the Disc.
The Discworld Emporium is here, and PJSM prints, where you can buy various DW art works and other awesomes (i spent toooo much money on their stall at the con…) is here

SepI found this book at the Discworld Convention. It’s illustrated by Paul Kidby, who has illustrated the DW books, or their covers at least, since the death of previous illustrator Josh Kirby in 2001.
It is in French, and means The Enchanted Kingdom, or so I believe. I love the images in it and would very much like to own it. They just look so pretty and soft, I will post some of the DW images, but I am just so in love with these.

JunSo apparently some Mario game is coming out this week. I know nothing about it because I don’t have a boyfriend who reminds me of it several times a minute. Personally, I don’t like the 3D Mario games as much, but Mario Galaxy 2 is said to be the best game on the wii.
So here are some Marios found by my afore mentioned boyfriend, who sometimes finds cool things. Clicky for a gallery of Mario and Luigi fanart.

FebI discovered Andreas Rocha’s work when I stole my brother’s book Fantasy Art Now.
I am so completely in love with his art work, especially the beautiful landscapes and castles. Somehow I’m not so interested in the topless girls… =P
Recently he has created the illustrations for the Facebook game, Castle Age, which is one of the three games I play almost religiously =)

tikimuppet asked: Hey, I think your drawings are awesome, and I'm gonna have to take a trip to the local Asda and buy some sketchbooks :D
Thanks! Hopefully you don’t live near me. I’m going to go to Asda myself tomorrow to stock up....
